Jail Calls Put Adva Lavie at Center of Cloobeck Case

Adva Lavie’s jail calls tied to the Stephen Cloobeck case took center stage in Los Angeles on Monday, where prosecutors and defense lawyers faced off over whether the former Penthouse model should be sent to a diversion program instead of prison. Detectives told the court that Lavie used her time behind bars to make repeated calls to her ex-husband, porn star Edan Ives, and to vent about the billionaire ex-fiancé she says she had recently split from.

Detective Angela Lopez said Lavie made 10 calls to Ives, and that the conversations included “multiple I love you’s and pet names.” Lopez told the court the calls offered a look at Lavie’s view of Cloobeck, including talk about “using the f–k out of” his credit card after he ended the relationship. Lopez also said Lavie told Ives that Cloobeck and Lavie were not on speaking terms, but that she still had access to his credit card.

According to Lopez, Lavie told Ives to “use Cloobeck’s credit card, use the f–k out of it,” and even suggested that her mother should use it too. In one exchange described in court, when Ives asked whether Cloobeck would be angry, Lavie replied, “I don’t give and f—,” and said she would testify against him in his upcoming case. Prosecutors say that the messages matter because Cloobeck is already facing witness tampering and other felony charges connected to Lavie’s case.

Cloobeck was also at the courthouse Friday, where he entered a not guilty plea to all charges. Lavie’s calls have now added a new layer to a case that began with accusations involving wealthy older men, a fast-moving relationship, and claims of financial abuse and retaliation. The prosecution argued that her own statements undercut the image of distance between the two, saying she described him as abusive in one filing while still calling him repeatedly.
