A stalking threat against Roc Nation CEO Desiree Perez escalated outside the company’s Manhattan headquarters Monday evening, when a man confronted her near the Chelsea office and allegedly warned her, “You are going to die,” according to law enforcement sources.
The encounter happened around 7:30 p.m. outside the loft-style building on West 26th Street near 11th Avenue, where a representative for Perez told police that the suspect had threatened the businesswoman in front of the office, sources said. Investigators also believe the same man had been targeting her with death threats in multiple incidents stretching back to May. It was not immediately clear how many of those threats happened face to face, but sources said the harassment also came through social media posts and lyrics connected to Roc Nation.
Desiree Perez, 56, co-founded Roc Nation with Jay-Z and has become one of the most visible executives tied to the entertainment company’s growth. Her online biography says she played a major role in Roc Nation’s partnership with the NFL, helping the company coordinate halftime shows beginning in 2019. The bio also says she has worked with artists including Alicia Keys, Megan Thee Stallion and Lil Uzi Vert, and has served as an executive producer on major live tours.
The alleged stalker has been tentatively identified as a homeless man known in Manhattan and the Bronx, though he had not been arrested. That detail, along with the reported pattern of threats, suggests authorities are looking at a continuing harassment case rather than a one-time confrontation outside a private office building. Roc Nation did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
