Tyler Boebert Arrested on Child Exploitation Charges

Tyler Boebert was arrested in Colorado on child sexual exploitation charges, adding fresh legal trouble for the son of Rep. Lauren Boebert. The 21-year-old was taken into custody Sunday by the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office on an arrest warrant tied to “sexual exploitation of a child and multiple other charges,” according to the agency.

The sheriff’s office said the arrest followed an investigation by its detectives and a felony review by the 9th Judicial District Attorney’s Office. Tyler was later released from the county jail after posting a $10,000 bond. Court records show he is scheduled to appear at the Garfield County courthouse on Aug. 19.

The Denver Post reported that Tyler could face as many as five felony counts, including sexual exploitation of a child, child exploitation with intent to distribute sexually exploitative material, a charge involving videotaped material, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The charges reportedly stem from an alleged incident in early 2024, when Tyler would have been 18.

Rep. Lauren Boebert said in a statement, “We take these allegations very seriously and pray for everyone affected during this challenging time.” The Republican congresswoman also told 9News she was “very frustrated” by what happened and said there was “no excuse.” She added that “a kind woman quickly and safely secured him, and authorities were called as a precaution.”
