Hunter Biden Revives Laptop Denial in Carlson Interview

Hunter Biden is once again disputing the story of the Hunter Biden laptop, saying in a long interview with Tucker Carlson that he did not leave the device at a Delaware computer shop in 2019. Instead, he claimed Monday that the material associated with the laptop was taken from his cloud accounts.

The former first son told Carlson that an unknown person or group broke into his digital accounts and stole the files that later became part of the political firestorm around his business dealings. He said the contents were too large to have come from a single machine and suggested, without proof, that intelligence services or another actor may have pieced together the material. Hunter Biden said he had no forensic evidence identifying who did it.

The actual laptop, a MacBook Pro 13, was later presented as evidence at his 2024 trial on illegal gun possession. FBI Special Agent Erika Jensen testified in court that the serial number matched Biden’s device while he was present in the courtroom. Repairman John Paul Mac Isaac turned the laptop over to the FBI after copying its files, setting off reporting that drew national attention to Hunter Biden’s foreign business ties.

Those files became a central political issue in the final stretch of the 2020 campaign. They showed references to Joe Biden’s role in meetings and business relationships involving foreign figures from Ukraine, China, Mexico, Kazakhstan, Russia and Romania. The material also fueled claims from Biden family critics that Hunter had acted as an unregistered foreign agent, though he was not charged with that offense.
