Tate brothers arrested in US after UK rape charges

Andrew Tate and Tristan Tate were arrested in the US as British prosecutors announced new UK charges, including rape and sex trafficking.

Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan were arrested in the US after British prosecutors announced fresh UK charges in the long-running Tate brothers arrest case. The arrests came after the UK’s Crown Prosecution Service said it was adding more allegations against the pair, including rape and sex trafficking.

The Crown Prosecution Service said Andrew Tate now faces seven additional counts of rape, along with other charges tied to alleged offences involving sex trafficking and child pornography. Tristan Tate has been charged with one count of sexual assault, two counts of rape, and three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation. Prosecutors said the alleged conduct covered a period from July 2010 to August 2017.

Malcolm McHaffie, who heads the CPS Special Crime Division, said the new charging decisions followed another file of evidence from Bedfordshire Police and raised the total number of alleged victims in the case to seven. The brothers have previously denied wrongdoing.

US Marshals confirmed to the BBC that the Tate brothers were taken into custody. A spokesperson for the US Department of Justice said the arrests were carried out pursuant to extradition proceedings. The CPS said prosecutors will seek the brothers’ extradition.

The case has been building for months. In May 2025, prosecutors said Andrew Tate, 39, and Tristan Tate, 37, would eventually face a list of 21 charges in the UK. Those alleged offences were said to have taken place between 2012 and 2016. The Tate brothers arrest now puts fresh attention on the extradition fight and the separate UK case. For readers, the key point is that the legal pressure on the Tates has increased on both sides of the Atlantic.
