President Trump is set to highlight a record-setting crime report on Long Island Friday, where he will unveil new FBI figures showing the largest year-to-year decline in violent crime ever recorded. The crime report announcement comes during a visit to Nassau County that will put public safety, immigration enforcement and the administration’s law-and-order message front and center.
The White House said Trump will tour the Nassau County Police Academy in Garden City with Republican gubernatorial candidate and Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman before holding a news conference on the 2025 Crime Statistics Report. Attorney General Todd Blanche and FBI Director Kash Patel are expected to join him. White House spokesperson Lauren Bis said the data proves Trump delivered on his promise to “make America safe again,” while casting Democrats as opposed to police and law enforcement.
The report is expected to show broad drops across major categories. According to the figures described by the White House, murder and nonnegligent manslaughter declined by more than 18%, rape fell nearly 8%, robbery dropped 18.5%, and aggravated assault eased by a little over 7%. Property crime also moved lower, with burglaries down about 16%, larceny-theft off roughly 10% and motor vehicle theft down about 23%.
Patel, who grew up on Long Island, said earlier that the 2025 crime data shows the single largest decrease in violent crime and murder since 1937, referring to preliminary numbers first released in May. That claim has become a major talking point for Trump allies, who are looking to use the new report to reinforce a broader argument that tougher border control and stronger cooperation with law enforcement are driving down crime.
